I tried to watch the video from IDF but the accent on that guy Rajesh Kumar is just too much. "But vhat Nelam es abut es to rdeach za ffuture of comutin tuday vith za help of intel."
Yes! I agree! How dare they talk about Intel at the Intel Developer Forum? Wheres the Via or S3 or Matrox coverage while at IDF?! Why must you leave out these important companies while attending Intel Developer Forum!? For Shame.
Nah, it's just that Nehalem is a pretty exciting microarchitecture and we have high expectations due to those set by Core 2 release. Besides, AMD hasn't come out with anything particularly interesting lately except for its GPUs.
4:54PM - Intel is also showing an HP notebook that can play a full 2 hour Blu-ray movie on one battery charge.
They didn't make you all sit for 2 hours and watch it did they? ;)
Anyways:
4:45PM - Ok I'll stop counting chips, Dadi just announced Intel's first mobile Quad Core processor. It will run at 2.4GHz and be used for desktop replacement notebooks. Shipping this year, notebooks below:
I though the mobile Extreme quad core was going to come in at 2.53GHz. and there would be a lower-end mobile quad core at 2.26GHz. Is this 2.4GHz mobile a third model or did they just downclock the Extreme Edition?
“The actual switch took several seconds, much longer than the Hybrid Power tests I ran on the NVIDIA 780a chipset not too long ago.”
Considering how rarely you will need to switch between graphics modes I can live with a 5 second or so delay whilst it switches. I’m sure that I’d read that it required a reboot so I can live with this. If they can offer the same feature in a desktop chipset that works with any VGA card AND fully turns off the power to the discrete card then count me in. It sounds difficult but if they can do it on a mobile platform then why not desktop to?
I just saw a post at 4:00 about a iPhone like home phone, but I hit refresh and it disappeared and in its place is one posted at 3:59. Something is screwy.

What the heck is that slot below the memory slots? Anyone else see what I am talking about?Lightnix - Tuesday, August 19, 2008 - link
Looks to be about the right size for SO-DIMM memory. It's probably not, but perhaps it's expandable memory for Havendale's onboard GPU?marsbound2024 - Tuesday, August 19, 2008 - link
Sounds like as good a theory as any.smilingcrow - Tuesday, August 19, 2008 - link
