Nexus 5 Briefly Appears on Google Play - Starts at $349

In what may be one of the most interesting leaks thus far in the road to the official Nexus 5 announcement, today Google seems to have accidentally confirmed both the Nexus 5's name, appearance, and starting price. The Nexus 5 went live on the Nexus category of Google Play, with the name and starting price of $349. It has since been changed back to show the Nexus 4.
We've already seen its appearance in a Google KitKat video, later from the FCC, and finally in the leaked service manuals for the LG-D821 variant (which I believe is the EMEA banding variant, LG-D820 will be for the USA), someone also dug up a higher resolution image of the Nexus 5 confirming its appearance.
So we know some specs (MSM8974 Snapdragon 800, with LTE and likely an 8 MP camera with OIS), and price $349, all we need is an official launch date and announcement.

Beginning with the Nexus 4, Google has essentially sold them at its cost, using ad revenues to "subsidize" the price. The Moto X is sold through the traditional model with a carrier subsidy, so it won't be the same price.Crono - Thursday, October 17, 2013 - link

At this point the announcement could be a 14 second clip of them saying "So yeah, you know literally everything about this phone, here ya go" and that would be ok, lol. I don't think they even tried to keep it a secret, there is quite a hype train around it thanks to all the leaks.I'm excited, my Nexus S needs to retire!

I hope $349 is 16GB model? (i.e. they are selling 16GB and 32GB models this time, not 8GB and 16GB like Nexus 4.)I also want to see a quick Nexus 7 update to use Snapdragon 800 (can keep everything else the same including price), to be on par with Kindle Fire HDX and Nexus 5.

Trying to be on par by stuffing a more powerful SoC into the same device might be futile and merely a spec sheet war. Phones with high-end SoCs are thermally limited so the power isn't really used because the SoCs don't always run at their full speed, although for brief bursty race to idle situations they might be better. The more likely route is what Google did with Nexus 7 2012: Introduce a 64GB version at $269, shift the 32GB version down to $229 and discontinue the 16GB version. Still unlikely but far more likely than a SOC change 3 month after release.psuedonymous - Friday, October 18, 2013 - link
